UNION SHIPPING MINISTER VEDPRAKASH P. GOYAL, A PROFILE

   Born on January 31, 1926 at Karnal (Haryana), Shri Vedprakash P. Goyal, who represents Maharashtra in the Rajya Sabha, was sworn in as the New Cabinet Minister for Shipping on September 1, 2001. An industrialist by profession, Shri Goyal has settled in Maharashtra. His wife, Smt. Chandrakanta Goyal is a Member of Legislative Assembly, Maharashtra for the third time. Shri Goyal is B.Sc. (Chemical Engineering), from Banaras Hindu University. He has four children, two sons and two daughters.

    Shri Goyal has held several positions in his public life with distinction.
